Sustainable Sailing: Protecting Our Lagoon

The ocean is our office, our playground, and our livelihood. At Southeast Cruises, we believe we have a profound responsibility to protect the marine environment of Mauritius. We have implemented several sustainability initiatives to ensure that the beauty we share with you today remains for tomorrow.

Respecting Marine Wildlife

We strictly adhere to dolphin and turtle watching guidelines. We never chase animals, cut off their path, or make excessive noise. We maintain a respectful distance, allowing you to observe these creatures in their natural behavior without causing them stress.

No-Anchor Policy on Corals

Anchors can destroy centuries of coral growth in seconds. Our skippers are trained to anchor only in designated sandy zones. Where possible, we use fixed moorings to avoid seabed impact entirely.

Reducing Plastic Waste

We have significantly reduced single-use plastics on our boats. We serve drinks in reusable cups and encourage guests to refill water bottles. All waste generated during our trips is brought back to the mainland for proper disposal and recycling where possible. We leave nothing behind but wake.

Community Support

Sustainability is also about people. We hire locally from the village of Mahébourg, supporting the local economy. We source our BBQ ingredients from local fishermen and farmers, ensuring that your tourism dollars benefit the community directly.

By choosing Southeast Cruises, you are supporting a business that cares about the blue heart of Mauritius.
